School Lunches

Here at St. Peter's we understand how important it is for children to eat a healthy and balanced meal during the day. Evidence shows that eating healthy foods has a positive impact on a child's ability to learn, concentrate and improves their overall behaviour.

A school dinner from the exciting menu costs just £2.50 per day and includes a hot meal with a choice of salad or vegetable side dishes, a delicious desert or fruit and a drink (water or milk). School meals are made using fresh produce, sourced locally where possible and can be paid for on a weekly or a daily basis.   A copy of the latest  menu can be viewed above.

Free school meals are available to some pupils.  To find out if your child qualifies please go to: https://www.staffordshire.gov.uk/Education/Educational-awards-benefits/FreeSchoolMeals/Apply-online.aspx or contact the school office.

All pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal as part of the Government's Universal Free School Meals initiative.

Drinking Water

Children in Year 1 and above are welcome to bring a named water bottle into school so that they can have a drink of water when necessary. Every classroom has access to drinking water, and pupils can refill their bottle from the taps as many times as they need to to.

Only water is allowed in classroom drink bottles. This is so that we can avoid ants and other pests being attracted to the bottles. or sticky spillages ruining school books.

Pupils may bring squash or juice as part of their packed lunch.

Lunchtime menu

Our current menu works on a three week rolling programme so our families can choose which meals they would like to have and plan their food choices in advance to suit individual tastes. Our full menu for January 2022 onwards is available above.

Packed Lunches

For those children who choose to bring a packed lunch we encourage parents to include healthy sandwiches, snacks and drinks (not fizzy) and support the school in promoting healthy life choices. Advice on a balanced packed lunch is available here.

Break time snacks

Break time snacks are available to all pupils during the morning break:
Toast - 25p
Milk - 25p
Note: all under fives receive free milk.
